We finally have a good substitute for Cadmium Red, it is a more
crimson shade, very pretty, and even behaves better! Unfortunately
due to insurance issues and cadmiums being a heavy metal based
pigment, we are no longer carrying Cadmiums. Even though it has
been sufficiently proven that they are safe in art materials
such as paints, and only breathing the pigment powders can be
a problem, which is my own personal risk here if any, we are
making this concession to political correctness. Do not fear
any leftover cadmium paints you have. They are not dangerous,
though our insurance company fears someone will think they are
and are worried someone may protest or worse. They are, by the
way fully legal, and considered safe enough to sell in art stores
as gouaches, oil and watercolors.
